I have been lucky enough to come into contact (through cyberspace) with an excellent writer of the punk rock variety, based right here in my home town Vancouver, BC. His name is Chris Walter, and though some out there might know his name from his work with The Nerve Magazine, I am happy to say that he has a whole other wealth of written gems just waiting to be discovered.
I know this is a music blog, so I'll introduce you first to Mr Walter's biography "Personality Crisis" covering the great Winnipeg Punk band of that moniker. Other musically-related books are: "I was Punk Before You Were Punk", "I'm on the Guest List" "Punk Rules, Ok" and many others covering the gutter-punk world of East Vancouver and beyond. It's hard to hype up these books, you just have to read them.
Chris is quoted as saying "My dream is to someday appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show, just so I can puke all over the place and make a total ass of myself."
I urge you to check out (and buy) his books so we can help a great writer like Chris Walter fulfill his dream. If not for the art, at least to see the look on Oprah's face.
