Dave Martone Guitar Clinic at Nearly Famous Music Festival

I was lucky enough to catch the end of local Shredder Dave Martone's guitar clinic on Saturday at The Burbon. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the instructor is definitely well-known, so I took a chance!

Dave Martone has played with some true guitar legends like Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen, toured with big-time rock acts like 3 Doors Down, and has released scads of mind-blowing original music. He has also taught clinics with National Guitar Workshop as well as Berklee College of Music. His resume speaks for itself.

Dave was pretty candid & revealed all the techniques, stories and insights that his time slot would allow. Unfortunately, the audio didn't turn out well through my microphone, so I omitted the actual songs. What you are left with is some pretty cool banter and what I think is some useful, informative and insightful advice for guitarists of today.

The seminar was 2 hours long, but I only managed to record the last 20 minutes or so: the Q&A. The audience questions are a little quiet, so I've tried to fill them out for you.

1st clip:

Dave Martone talks about his pedals, his business, his influences and combining influences.

The song he was talking about is called Country Maniac off his 2003 album "A Demon's Dream"

2nd Clip:
Questions from the audience: How does Dave find that balance between technical, tonal playing and rocking out? How does he get one of his trademark sounds? Dave fields an Audience request.

3rd Clip:
How does Dave remember all his parts? What's coming up next, and what keeps him motivated to practise?

This is just a taste of Dave Martone's incredible abilities and knowledge - if you're interested in more of Dave's works, check out his new album "Clean" or visit www.davemartone.com
